How does Quickstart work?
Each Quickstart school is split into different companies: Events, Artist Management, Music Publishers and Record Label. They must work togteher to find and promote artsits and writers and produce a CD or put on a live event in just 10 weeks.
How does Quickstart link with NUMU?
The Quickstart companies will have their own NUMU pages to promote artiss and writers and their record label. Quickstart labels have an extra feature which allows them to licence tracks from NUMU artists in exchange for points.
Someone wants to licence my track...what does that mean?
Quickstart Labels can licence NUMU tracks in exchange for points. A licence is an agreement between you and the label that they can use your song on their label, promote it and put it on CD. It's like being signed by a record label in the real world. The label will help you get more listeners and exchange you get points.
What happens if I say 'Yes' to a licence request?
If you accept a licence request you will recieve points. Your track will then appear on the labels page. Every time someone listens to your track anywahere on the site you will recieve more points.
What happens if I say 'No' to a licence request?
If you reject a licence request you will not receive any points and nothing will happen to your track.
What are points?
Points mean prizes! We are working to bring you lots of exciting prizes in exchange for points. The artsits with most points will win some great prizes - so keep copllecting and check back for details soon.
How many points do I get for my track?
The number of points you get for your track depends on where it is in the NUMU chart. If your track is more popular it will cost a Quickstart Label more points to licence it. Every time your track gets played you reciece 1 point. You also get bonus points if your track gets in the top 10.
How long does a licence last ?
At the end of the Quickstart project all licences are cancelled and your track returns to normal. This will usually be a maximum of ten weeks.
Can my track be licenced to more than 1 label?
Your track can only be licenced at once. But, once a licence is cancelled another label can licence the same track.
Can I get more than 1 licence request?
Yes, if a few labels want to licence your track you may get several licence requests. Its up to you to decide which is the best offer.
How do I know which is the best offer?
You might get more points from some labels but you should also check what else they are going to do for you. Remember it's the labels job to get your track played as much as possible and to make you famous! How are they gooing to do that? ask them questions, check out their label page, what other artsits have they signed? what do people say about them. Its your track make sure you get the best deal.
Can I cancel a licence or delete my track ?
No. Once your track is licenced you cannot cancel it or delete your track. If you want to un-licence your track first ask the label and explain why. If you have problems then contact us on info@numu.org.uk
What happens if I am the wrirter of a track?
Writers can also get licence requests, accept licences and earn points. If you wrote the track but someone else played it and they acceopt a licence you will also get pionts. If you disagree you should contact the label that licenced your track.
